Is it possible for an autist to be so good at "masking" from high IQ that everybody thinks they're NT?

A psychiatrist and therapist said they considered me having autism, but they ended up not diagnosing me with it because of how easily I socialize and make friends nowadays. But it made me wonder if I'm not just extremely good at ""masking"" due to utilizing my high autistic iq for emotional / social intelligence, instead of utilizing it for maths or whatever other high functioning autists use it for.

I was a loner until recently, now I am highly extroverted and NT, with a ton of friends and girls giving me IOIs.
But when I talk to these people, I am always putting on a face. I fake almost all of my laughter and emotion.
I pretend to be interested in their day-to-day lives, I pretend to empathize with them, when in reality I do not care or feel anything for them.

Introversion and extraversion can already be observed with reasonable reliability in the early years of life

It is referred to as a spectrum disorder for a reason.
