Is marpe a looksmin?

My orthodontist wants me to do marpe since I have a very narrow palate and bad breathing. However I have never seen a good before and after of marpe. Almost every before and after has a balloon face or made them asymmetrical. I don’t wanna get it and have a moon face. Do you guys think marpe is a looksmin?

if you can't place your tounge on the roof then it might be required

i have an marpe myself, will get it removed soon.

i wouldn't say its a looksmin or looksmax in my experience. i look way better now compared to what i looked like before marpe, but its mostly because of me losing face fat, not directly attributable to the marp.e

however, my nose did become more crooked after expansion. it has resorbed either. But, i feel it was worth it in my case since i had a pretty severe crossbite that ouldnt be resolved without expansion

if you have a narrow jaw and your orthodontist doesnt feel that double jaw surgery would benefit you, go for it.

even my crooked nose is NOT noticable irl. I was autistically analysing my face in the mirror when I noticed it as i hadnt seen it before.

make sure not to overexpand.

I plan to get double jaw surgery eventually I already met with a surgeon and he wants to just skip the marpe and do surgery but idk my orthodontist thinks otherwise.

The reason why they look bad is because all the other features of them already look bad and marpe wont magically transform your whole face it only affects the maxilla and zygos a little

every marpe result i see looks worse cus their nose got wider it js seems to ruin harmony a lot

They all look shit, why on earth would u spend 10k+ on pallete expansion, when u could spend on bimax instead

i plan on getting bimax, but that only advances the maxilla and mandible forward it doesn’t expand. unless they do a segmental le fort which does expand, but that’s a lot more difficult and less predictable
