Is palette expander worth it?

I am 14 and thinking of getting palette expander, and then aligners(fuck braces). I did some research on it and seen no real downsides besides pain and something non permanent, is there any REALLY hidden stones?
My palette rn is narrow as fuck as i have bigass black gaps when smiling, also it would increase maxillary development and somewhat touch cheekbones projection

If you somehow have strong enamel braces are pretty much the same with aligners, but it’s a luck factor, only better thing is that you don’t need 2k$ for them
