Isotretinoin or Retin-A?

I had like bad acne earlier in the year but now its mild rosacea + hyperpigmentation and my derm said I should go on isotretinoin to stop it from ever returning again. does isotretinoin benefits outweigh the side effects? or should i just use Retin-A? I got my blood tested last week and i'm meeting with my derm to get isotretinoin next week should I get Retin-A instead?
