Most people love to point their fingers at individuals that commited suicide, calling it selfish and cowardice, which shows the majority of human beings lack good cognitive abilities and empathy.
First: If it's selfish to commit suicide, then it's even more selfish to think someone, who doesn't want to live anymore, has to keep living in order for you to not suffer when (s)he is gone forever. Nobody chooses to be born, but people have the right to not want to live anymore. Being against it is pure sadism.
Second: Commiting suicide is far from being a coward act. There's no stronger feeling than human self preservation (it's very hard to kill yourself, when you're close to it, your self preservation mechanism will try everything to save your life), so if someone succeeds in kiling him(her)self, (s)he is far from being a coward, the opposite, for reasons I already explained.
This thread shows that thinking and having common sense is a rare human trait.
