LeFort 1 + BSSO result (not mine) (and question)

Apparently a lefort 1 + bsso for lower jaw setback.

I'm wondering if she could've achieved a similar result without setting back her lower jaw and just going for a vertical reduction genio?

My lower third is too long aswell and I don't really want to set back my lower jaw, the surgeon also said my lower jaw is fine.

This is what is weird about my case lol, I'm not downward grown, my MP-SN proves that. My SNB is 84 which could be considered a bit prognathic since the average SNB is within 80-82, but idk.

Rn this is the only lefort 1 + genio result I've seen, I think I've seen a few others but didn't screenshot them. Also I've not seen vertical reduction genio done for males, at least not from the r/jawsurgery

Have you used the McNamara analysis to find your Maxillomandibular Differential? I found SNA/SNB to be worthless measurements as it can sometimes show skeletal class 1 relationship with someone who clearly has skeletal recession

All I've done are the scans at my orthos office. She gave me a bunch of other numbers too.

Like I know my maxilla is recessed, I knew that way before ever getting any scans done. And the scans just prove that.

McNamara analysis is mostly for surgeons during planning, although not all use it. Helps to plan for symmetry and millimeter advancement. It can also be good to compare against SNA/SNB by looking at your effective maxillary/mandible length and comparing to the mean.

If you have access to your DICOM files I'd measure it

My MP-SN is 25.5 degrees, people with that MP-SN sometimes have lower thirds that are too small.

This community is the only place where I'm open about my surgeries, in real life I'm not telling a soul. Shit, like out of all people only my surgeon knows that I got a BFR, and probably the old russian lady who assisted her.

But when people I know irl found it that was the sucker punch. Like a rush of adrenaline and fear and cringe and embarrassment all in one

But I quickly got over it and moved on

I’ve cringed my way through so many things in life atp it’s just another instance to add to the pile
