I’m starting my hardmaxxing journey with MARPE soon. The main goals are improving my airway, nasal breathing, and overall facial balance. If needed, bimax could be the next step to improve both function and aesthetics.
I’ll be getting a custom MARPE expander fixed with two TAD screws. My current maxillary width is around 39 mm, and the goal is to expand it to around 42–43 mm.
The main reason for this is my breathing. I have difficulty breathing through my nose because my nasal airway feels restricted and collapses when I try to breathe through it. I also mouth breathe at night, snore, and have trouble falling asleep because of poor airflow.
The hope is that MARPE will widen my nasal cavity, improve airflow, reduce snoring, and make nasal breathing easier.
The expansion + braces should take around 1 year or idk maybe more. After that, we’ll see how much improvement I get.
If my breathing is still not good enough, the next step will most likely be bimaxillary surgery. Since I turn 16 in January, I’ll probably have to wait around 1-2 years before surgery
Current plan:
MARPE - > braces - > evaluate results -> possible bimax
There is a very high chance I’ll need bimax in the future, so stay tuned.
I’ll post updates throughout the process.
Let me know your thoughts on my case, MARPE, and the possibility of future bimax. I’d like to hear your opinions.
