I am pro lifting keep in mind, because the benefits outweigh the negatives for me (looks wise) but it definitely decreases your life expectancy compared to if you don't lift, even if its just 1 year at best. The stress thing isn't true because when you do progressive overload, you also have constant chronic inflammation from muscle fibers being torn apart, your body gets overactive to fix this, a reason why alot of sleep is recommended when you lift, so your body uses less stress to repair your musclesi believe that is only prolonged exertion on the body where u get stress hormones that affect u. but 20-30 minutes of lifting weights 3-4x a week can only help u i believe.
