i didnt say i didnt understand it its just a stupid statement. You not being able to understand it is not the same thing as it being incomprehensible
do you have to askAre u retarded?
It’s not a stupid statement. It’s a statement that many atheist philosophers and thinkers fully accept: that morality is not objective.i didnt say i didnt understand it its just a stupid statement.
i mean if rules are just what religion says then i guess i am legally allowed to own slaves and marry 9 year olds lol

Because the morality we developed serve as useful measures to manage civilized industrial nations, there is no objective morality but pretending morality is not beneficial or that there is no reason to follow it is stupidyes???? if i dont believe in a religion why would i follow its morals
ur talking about laws rn and i dont disagree that morality isnt useful on a societywide scale im just saying that i personally would not have any reason to follow morality besides the law if i wasnt religious because it simply wouldnt be logicalBecause the morality we developed serve as useful measures to manage civilized industrial nations, there is no objective morality but pretending morality is not beneficial or that there is no reason to follow it is stupid
Do you think laws are created out of thin air? they are defined by morality we developed and the reason we developed that morality is because it serves as useful measures to create trust in communities and to be able to collectivize as tribes and operate far more united, however we don't always apply that morality as some universal truth, we don't give the same morality to enemies or other tribes which is why massacres, slavery and mass rape and pillage in war is so common in history, morality serves to unify peoples and to collectivize them into a society that is productive and to then be able to compete far more against other peoples, my point is that the idea that we would be amoral rapists towards eachother the second we don't have some religious morality bestowed on us by God is ridiculous when said morality has always been subjective in the first placeur talking about laws rn and i dont disagree that morality isnt useful on a societywide scale im just saying that i personally would not have any reason to follow morality besides the law if i wasnt religious because it simply wouldnt be logical
i agree that these morals are useful for society as it helps it function properlyDo you think laws are created out of thin air? they are defined by morality we developed and the reason we developed that morality is because it serves as useful measures to create trust in communities and to be able to collectivize as tribes and operate far more united, however we don't always apply that morality as some universal truth, we don't give the same morality to enemies or other tribes which is why massacres, slavery and mass rape and pillage in war is so common in history, morality serves to unify peoples and to collectivize them into a society that is productive and to then be able to compete far more against other peoples,
the thing stopping true atheists that have no hope in god existing whatsoever from doing these things is laws, these types of people go on to become mass shooters or whatever if they do end up ropingmy point is that the idea that we would be amoral rapists towards eachother the second we don't have some religious morality bestowed on us by God is ridiculous when said morality has always been subjective in the first place
If this were true then why is it that when society turned vastly more secular it still operated just the same, youre assumption relies on people being shackled by law by some inhuman entity rather than it not being simply a social contract between peoples, the government is made up of these people and is defined by the people especially in democratic govs this is just a silly point, not to mention the pagans in europe never believed in universal good or evils which didnt stop them from creating laws and societies like this (see the roman republic and ancient greece)the thing stopping true atheists that have no hope in god existing whatsoever from doing these things is laws, these types of people go on to become mass shooters or whatever if they do end up roping
because these morals are still taught they didnt stop being taught because we became secularIf this were true then why is it that when society turned vastly more secular it still operated just the same, youre assumption relies on people being shackled by law by some inhuman entity rather than it not being simply a social contract between peoples, the government is made up of these people and is defined by the people especially in democratic govs this is just a silly point, not to mention the pagans in europe never believed in universal good or evils which didnt stop them from creating laws and societies like this (see the roman republic and ancient greece)
tbh laws must be abolished too, so strong people take all the power and dominate over weaklings, like it is supposed by nature. If this were true then why is it that when society turned vastly more secular it still operated just the same, youre assumption relies on people being shackled by law by some inhuman entity rather than it not being simply a social contract between peoples, the government is made up of these people and is defined by the people especially in democratic govs this is just a silly point, not to mention the pagans in europe never believed in universal good or evils which didnt stop them from creating laws and societies like this (see the roman republic and ancient greece)
Ya but you ignore how ancient greece and the roman republic also developed these laws and morals without the concepts of universal morality or objective good and evils, also in a secular worldview christianity is not real which makes all of its morality man-made as well, the reason we follow morality like this is because it is beneficial to our interests and the thought that man would be lost and dysfunctional without objective morality or a morality given by god is laughablebecause these morals are still taught they didnt stop being taught because we became secular
its not much diffrent to current moral systems its still taught from a young age and enforced heavilyYa but you ignore how ancient greece and the roman republic also developed these laws and morals without the concepts of universal morality or objective good and evils, also in a secular worldview christianity is not real which makes all of its morality man-made as well, the reason we follow morality like this is because it is beneficial to our interests and the thought that man would be lost and dysfunctional without objective morality or a morality given by god is laughable
ur still retarded. thats not what he said. he said theres no reason to follow rules. not that they are subjective. It’s not a stupid statement. It’s a statement that many atheist philosophers and thinkers fully accept: that morality is not objective.
You're completely misinterpreting what I'm saying. I'm not gonna say that OP's wording was perfect because it wasn't, but that's obviously the idea he was trying to get across.ur still retarded. thats not what he said. he said theres no reason to follow rules. not that they are subjective.
ur also retarded because you think subjectivity doesnt matter when it just means up to human interpertaion. subjectivity is important and essential to our society
