My Double Jaw Surgery was a Failure

My maxilla was brought slightly sideway due to the atypical position of my condyle (which are used as a reference for the surgery) which now causes me pretty intolerable TMJ pain. My apnea did improve, so the treatment was legit for me, but it shows how fucked up my phenotype developed due to environmental factors such as too little breastfeeding, poor posture, and so on (very unlikely to be caused by mutations, and my parents don't have my issues). Fuck this modern world causing all sorts of human suffering due to our maladapted nature to it. My surgeon told me he won't reoperate me. Don't think he is suable because probably other surgeons would have made the same error because they aren't trained to understand the root cause of the morphological problems (I tried talking about it with 3 different surgeons to no avail, my atypical TMJ was actually quite easy to identify and I indirectly warned them about it talking about related stuff). You basically have 90%-99% chance of success avoiding varying risks and are playing Russian roulette on those.
I am going to go see other surgeons what they think of this. Hopefully, I can find a way to get reoperated (covered by health insurance where I live). If that can't happen, I'll ask my parents to pay for it in the US as a last resort even if they don't really have the money for it (better accept otherwise: ).
Best case scenario, I get reoperated, fix the pain and add possible forward growth which could be a nice thing in the end.
Or I get reoperated, but still experience pain -> rope
Or don't get reoperated -> rope.

That is all.

I am so sorry you went through this.

For anyone reading, ALWAYS go for the best quality of surgeons even if it means spending a fortune. In general, if you don’t have to wear braces before orthognathic surgery, there’s also a higher risk of potential fallout. NEVER sacrifice temporary time for braces for potential permanent complications.

Sorry to hear that. I can empathize, I know how crushing disappointment from jaw surgery can feel. I am sure you will find a solution or at least a way to manage the pain.

How is your occlusion? I'm trying to picture lateral shifting of the maxilla having an impact on the TMJ/mandibular condyle...

I remember the feeling of disappointment I had after rhinoplasty, worried that the surgeon completely fucked up my face. How long ago did you get your surgery?

Because of my facial downswing, when I have a straight cervical posture the angular points of my mandible sort of get stuck because they try to go too deep (illustrated in deformedcel picture), this offset the condyles and more on one side than the other (the side which there is more resistance pushes further the mandible towards the opposite direction). Meaning the natural position of the condyles isn't in their fossa, especially on one side. But he moved both jaws forward placing the condyles in their fossa as the point of reference. Now I have perfect occlusion when I stretch my neck which eliminates the interaction at the angular points of the mandible but not when I am straight. Before I'd say it was more adjusted as a hybrid between the two.

could you tell us the surgeon so we can avoid him bro?

My condyles are forced to at an unnatural lateral position due to the change of the lateral position of the maxilla, I don't think much else can be done other than replacing the maxilla at his usual position. There only so much the TMJ can do to adapt.

Pretty good I'd say. My septum from basal view is still a bit crooked but it's a big improvement from what it used to be. And the general shape fits me face well

You could always get joint replacements if it's really that bad

Seems brutal but yea that could be a solution over rope

The upside is besides taking the pain away it also gives the surgeon more options in terms of advancement

Very saddening to hear. Your deformity appears similar to mine. My right condyle and grew to half the size of my left with reduced bone density. The temporal bone it sits in is also deformed, meaning the TMJ joint barely exists. I am about to go through with jaw surgery, my maxfac is experienced with similar cases, but clearly its a roll of the dice.

Can you explain in more detail the severity and manageability of the pain?

Vould you go in detail about your condylars and the lateral movement of LeFort1 ?

that's why I gave up on doing it with my local surgeon, I'll have it with R or Z and spend a fortune, fuck it

WHat freaking surgeon didnt think about this before cutting your skull.
Man ill rather pay 30 to 50 k to a fully blackpilled premium surgeon than 10 k gambling

I'm sorry OP. We are all hoping you get better and fix this damn mess.

I guess it safe to say that double jaw surgeries are more suited for situations like underbites, recessed upper jaws and such. Your case was much more difficult.

idk man 50k a fuck ton

I would do 30k max tbh

I wonder how much BIMAX with a Chin Implant would cost though, probably 40k
