  • Hydrocortisone and what it is
  • How to use it
  • The HPA axis thing
  • My results

Hydrocortisone Info

Hydrocortisone (HC) is a cream people use for things like redness, swelling, and irritation on the skin.

And no, it’s not the same kind of steroid people use for muscles.

One thing it can do is thin the skin a little, which is why it can make your nose look smaller.

Possible side effects (not super common):

  • Skin getting thinner
  • Small red bumps or irritation

If you notice stuff like that, just stop using it for a while.

How to Use It

Put two small pea-sized amounts of 1% hydrocortisone cream on your nose.

Spread it around the cartilage part of your nose and the bottom.

Don’t really put it on the bridge of your nose, because that can make the bump look bigger.

Rub it in good. After that, wipe off the extra cream but leave a small layer for about 5 minutes, then wipe it off too.

Sometimes a little water might come out of the top of your nose after a few minutes. That’s normal. Just wipe it off.

This can last for around a whole day.

How Often To Use It

First, use it once a day for 2 weeks so your body gets used to it.

After that, you don’t have to use it every day. Just use it when you want your nose to look smaller, like before going out.

HPA Axis (Simple Explanation)

Your body has something called the HPA axis, which controls stress hormones like cortisol.

Hydrocortisone increases cortisol a little.

Even though the amount is small, using it a lot for a long time could make your body adjust to it.

Hope This Helps!

Topical hydrocortisone does not make your nose smaller. It thins skin (atrophy), which can make underlying structures more visible/prominent, often worsening appearance long-term (fragile skin, redness, visible vessels, rebound worse when stopped). Nose size is cartilage/bone/fat/oil glands—steroids don't shrink those.

HPA axis suppression risk from 1% cream on small area (nose) is very low/minimal, not a major concern here.

Application method (pea-sized, wipe off, etc.) is unsafe/irrelevant since core claim is wrong.

This is dangerous misinformation, dermatologists warn against it.
