I'm high functioning (I got a job and I can manage myself with no issues) and people's general reaction to my presence when they get to know me are the same as lower functioning autists would get.

Yeah jobs are brutal for most autists, you basically have 2 paths: either you're the kind of autist who can do the job with no issues and then you're regarded as a weird but reliable person, or you have issues doing the job long term (like me) which means unless your level of incompetence is tolerable (and you aren't a subhuman lookswise) you'll get fired.
It almost happened to a guy I knew, does his job well but way less functioning than me + below average looks. Fuck NTs.

My job is akin to a prep cook so most mistakes I would make would either be completely forget a recipe, forget the weighing of a given product or sometimes preparing things too slowly. My theory is that eventually enough patterns and behavior aggregates among different NTs so that when they talk together about a given autist all the patterns converge into pointing out the divergence.
