There is a section on the MCAT called critical analysis and reading skills, known as CARS. CARS is SAT R/W on steroids.

If I wanna get into med school I gotta score high on the MCAT. If I wanna score high on the MCAT I gotta score high on CARS. If I wanna score high on CARS I gotta be sum type of literary genius and the goat of pattern recognition and on the fly analysis.

I will possibly be taking the MCAT as early as the summer after my sophomore year of uni. This is when I’ll have all my prereqs done.

Vote if I should start doing 1 CARS passage a day. This should only take me 25mins. 10mins on avg for a passage + questions and 15 minutes for a detailed review of the passage. This would theoretically make me really good at CARS and help me score high on the MCAT.

I think the ROI is worth it. Do you?

Attached is MCAT/GPA/AcceptanceRate correlation table. CARS is 25% of the MCAT. Note that acceptance rate is for ONE med school. I don't wanna be stuck in north dakota med school or whatever because it's the only place I got in. Typically people get into very few medical schools and apply very broadly, unlike college applications.

If you read the thread you will understand the idea I'm presenting. Is it better to do A) 1 passage a day long term (2+ yrs out from the MCAT), or B) instead wait until 3-4 months before the MCAT to start reviewing (typical method).

One of the key ideas of this question is that the reading/writing portion of any standardized test is often the hardest section to improve score, by far. Additionally, different med schools have different costs. This decision could easily save me (and my parents) thousands of dollars in future tuition differences.

I have made my decision. I will review daily.

oh ok

lmao you actually think mcat cars is just SAT R/W on steroids? try reading actual literature and analyzing complex arguments instead of being a normie iqlet. The real path to CARS mastery is through extensive practice with high-level passages from books like "Moby Dick", not some basic ass prep book
