Rubber Bands in combination with Braces

So here is the story, I have braces since nearly 2 years, from March to April my Doctor gave me rubber bands that ranged from my molars to my canines to correct a overbite. Now my front teeth are slightly in front of my upper teeth and he wants to do a triangular pull. Did these rubber bands cause recession on the maxilla side and does he want to give me cw rotation with the triangle thingy now? Please some real science backed answers
