i am 5,10 150 pounds following months of leanmaxxing, due to certain life circumstances I spent a month in a large caloric deficit with little sleep and no training, I’m now probably 12-14 percent bodyfat and although my face looks a lot better, I am being bitched by other men in real life, I am not particularly tall or masc in appearance and am being called “twink” and “pretty boy” by my male peers, this winter I want to enter a mild caloric surplus (200-400) and hopefully weight 160+. Is this surplus needed? Is gym at all even needed, I get a lot of female attention but I hate feeling like the average man could essentially molest me

I really want to keep my leanness I worked so hard for

Who doesn’t

I read this and you say that you get women and the problem is that other men probabily jealous are telling twink and you think you can get molest you bro i would suggest to training boxing or another martial art instead of lifting weight.

You can get away with building some muscle without a surplus but it definitely makes it faster and easier. Yes you can get to 160 plus fairly easily. I'd say you can gain 10lbs of pure muscle in 5 months of lifting as a begginer granted you eat optimally, sleep well , and workout consistently (no skipping workout days).

Spend the next two years bulking up. You will extreme gains when you first start. It's called begginer gains.

Look, if you're a beginner, you don't really need a surplus. By optimal, I mean lots of protein and healthy fats. I'm talking atleast 100g of protein a day. Sleep well, lift 4 days a week, and you will gain muscle. A surplus will arguably make gains come faster and you may make more gains but as a beginner, you will still make wild gains , and possibly even lose fat at the same time if you're lifting but not eating a surplus. If you're that concerned about hollow cheeks you could gain only lean muscle, but it's slower. Try just bulking for a year, gaining a small amount of fat, then just cut down. If you sacrifice your hollow cheeks for just a year, you can cut down after and be you but with 15 more lbs of muscle, with hollow cheeks. It sucks but if you get over that fear for just a year to look good for the next 10 years, it will pay off.

But then again, with newby gains, you can still make sick gains for the first year without even putting on a gram of fat. Even loss some possibly. But it may not be as much as if u had a surplus.
