Sri Lankan cels here, do you think super long names are a failo?

I've known a few Sri Lankan guys in my life, and every single one had a fairly lengthy name which they then shortened to use as nicknames.

This has to be a pretty big failo right?

yes i have a very long name, but my college allows us to use are preferred name instead of our government name. cant change last name though

Those names apparently also tell who your ancestors are, were you were born, what is your occupation, etc... Of course to a westerner they sound like just a bunch of meaningless, annoying sounds.
