For those struggling with anxiety, I highly recommend picking up running. I just finished a 5k, and now my headache, anxiety, and brain fog are all gone.

I recently stopped taking SSRIs (Prozac), and cardio has become my way to cope. Lately, I’ve been doing a 5k run every single day, and it’s been a game-changer.

Science backs this up: the optimal way to build stress resilience and improve brain health is to elevate your heart rate and break a sweat at least three times a week for 30-40 minutes each session.

Cardio, in particular, has the greatest impact on the brain. While walking is beneficial, running provides even better results. However, any activity that raises your heart rate and makes you sweat, like cycling, swimming, cross-country skiing, or tennis — is just as effective.

Once you understand how exercise positively affects the brain, it’s hard not to want to make it a regular habit.
