Afghanistan is at the crossroads of both Central Asia and South Asia. I have seen people use the term "South Central Asian" and I think that's the most accurate, since they're neither actually South Asian nor actually Central Asian. So they refer to them as the "southern portion of Central Asia." I feel like that makes most sense. Especially if you look at it genetically. Lots of Afghans will be shifted towards Central Asian populations.

Depends though, Afghans like the majority of the ethnicities there are genetically West Asian people. They are most similar to Iranians, Kurds and other west asian shifted central asian people like Uzbeks.
Baloch people, Pashtuns, Tajiks etc are not at all related to curries as they have no south asian ancestry.
Pakistan ofc shares its biggest ethnic group with North India, but they also have balloches, pashtuns, etc at a quarter+ of the population. these people are not related to curries at all and have almost entirely a west asian genome with no more ancestral south asian (the curry component) than eastern iranians or saudi arabians
