The effect of nutrition on infant bone age was studied. Bone age was examined in children with different degrees of malnutrition using wrist X-Rays and comparing them with Greulich and Pyle Atlas. There were no differences in the socioeconomic level of the different groups. In obese children bone age was advanced, while in under-nourished, it was retarded. The more severe the undernutrition the more delayed the bone age. A positive correlation between the percentage of variation of bone age and chronological age, and percentage of height for age was found. A greater delay in bone age was detected in undernourished children who had been small for date infants.

Dr Lui reviews key regulatory mechanisms of longitudinal bone growth at the growth plate, and the impact of nutrition on growth rate and growth duration. Research findings support that children grow taller because of a functional and responsive growth plate. Nutrition plays a critical role in modulating levels and effects of hormones that impact growth rate. Research findings show that growth plate senescence is driven more by growth than time. Malnutrition, which limits growth, also has the effect of reducing the rate of growth plate senescence, thus helping enable catch up growth when adequate nutrition is restored.

My hypothesis is that since you're malnourished, your body doesn't have the required materials to make that much estrogen, delaying growth plate closure.

TLDR: Skinny, malnourished people have growth plates that are more open than obese people.

I'm just saying. For people like @curlyheadjames and @luljankybo, their growth plates are open because they're starvemaxxed (I think)
If you're obese though...

Thanks for the share, this is really interesting.

One would argue that eating a lot during puberty would positively correlate with increased height HOWEVER this study could be suggesting the opposite, and that the growth would only be delayed.

Idk if I should still have hope but this is lifefuel for me regardless.

Thanks!!!
The point of this is thread was really that skinny people have more open growth plates than obese people.

@enchanted_elixir What percentage do you recommend I go down to? Am I 18% at 16 years old?

Skinny and malnourished man present, I have not been able to gain weight for two years and I always felt that my growth was behind other men, I am almost 19 years old and I am 180cm tall , is there a way that I can still grow?

I'm about to increase my testosterone and DHT levels with Butea Superba and Tongkat Ali, then lower estrogen levels with Arimistane, next I'll do stretches + inversion table + raised saddle bike and short sprints

Bodyfat, right?
If so, the ideal range is 8-12

being fat in childhood and teens is something you cant control
Just tell your mother to stop feeding you.
Or let the food rot in your room.

My height and weight at ages
13 5'1 90lbs
14 5'5 100lbs
15 5'7 100lbs
16 5'7 120lbs (I was aggressively bulking with whatever I could eat and lifting weights with MK677 and Aromasin 25mg daily)
17 5'7 120lbs
18 5'7 120lbs
Almost 19 5'7 120lbs

While my weight stayed the same, my body fat lowered even more than before, I gained lots of muscle and strength thanks to gymmaxxing. Never shaved my facial hair and I only have a goatee forming. My dad had much more facial hair earlier than me and was 150lbs when he was 17. He was stuck at that weight just like I was doe

My family is low income so I never had all the food I wanted and needed

Currently I am still starvemaxxed because my family is poor and even with my job I can't feed myself so I often go to sleep starving

If I had all the food I wanted and needed, I would be 200lbs so easy. I'm about to get a second job so I can feed myself and bulk to 200 while on MK677 and Aromasin

My dad said he was like me at my age. He grew up even poorer. He was stuck at the same weight for years until he started eating different. He said he used to be small like me. He said he was always skinny and lean like me. He is now 5'10" 220lbs gymmaxxed

5'10" is also my predicted height based on my parents heights 5'4" and 5'10" and was my predicted height before I fell off my growth curve

My proportions are weird asf too. I have extremely long legs and arms and short ass torso like a 14 year old male

Before I had facial hair, when I was 17, everyone said I look like I'm 14

Do you think I can be like those NBA players that got a late growth spurt?

Is it possible to not grow in height for years then get a growth spurt as a result of resolving starvation and being able to eat all I need and want?

there's only way to truly find out, but the concept of people catch up growth is a well-established topic in scientific literature

How does the torso grow? Maybe I will get catch up growth all in my torso cuz the torso grows via a different mechanism? Possibly the torso requires IGF 1 and GH and high protein intake which I always lacked? Tbh I never really consistently had a high protein diet

I have the same issue, I know someone who's 6'2 and we have the same leg length. but different sized torsos.

The torso grows based on spinal growth plates.
I heard that @FreakkForLife did stretching for his torso.
