Theres this epidemic of people trying to larp mathematics in order to flex their iq. This dude made a post about how he "derived" the geodesic equation but he did it in the most convoluted and complex way possible. "muh 6 hour derivation"

no joke you literally can derive this exact equation if you know the chain rule and product rule in less than 2 minutes by setting the derivative to 0. Henry taking calculus 1 could unironically derive this equation. Here it is I wrote it for u

i studied all the way to linear algebra (Calculus BC to Linear Algebra), and i genuinely don't know wtf this means

It aint that bad derivative is just rate of change and integral is signed area under graph, then u just memorize some rules for calculating them for different functions like power law or Leibniz rule, or u-sub. That is most calculus classes at least.

i remember a little bit of calc,

i remember having to figure out at which points the graphs touches the x axis, whether it went through or bounced back - and based on that you get the derivative of the graph

and there was an aspect of calculus where you calculated the total area under a specific graph

and some shit like that

i remember key words like u-sub and etc.

but the thing that this guy wrote at the very top i have 0 recollection of, pretty sure he was just exaggerating the fact that calculus students are easily able to solve it. I was in Calc BC and on god i don't remember anything like that

but i'm sure if i relearn calc a little bit more and figure out what the guy wrote then i'd be able to understand it

The concept of curved space is incredibly complex. You need to learn what a differential manifold is, which will require learning what an atlas and a manifold is, which will require you learning about topological spaces, second countability, and being locally diffeomorphic, which will reqiuire you to learn some basic topology (but really topology should be a prerequisite).
