So basically, I’m at a point in life where I just need a full reset. I’m from the Middle East, raised in a pretty conservative household, and honestly, the dating scene here doesn’t even exist. Everything is super strict, you can’t really talk to girls, dating is taboo, and most relationships are arranged marriages. It feels like life is decided before you even start living it. My older brother moved abroad (to the US) for university a few years ago. He told me that moving out was the best decision he ever made, the freedom, the social life, everything. What’s crazy is that he’s not even that good looking by most standards, but somehow he’s thriving there. It really opened my eyes to how different the environment can change everything. I’m 15 right now, tall (around 6'2-6'3), and I’d say I’m above average in looks for where I live, but none of it matters here. The environment kills any chance of meeting people or having normal experiences. That’s one of the big reasons I’m considering studying abroad, not just for education, but for the life experience and social growth that comes with it.

To anyone who’s lived or studied in the US (or any Western country):
  • How different is the social/dating culture compared to conservative countries?
  • Is it really as difficult or “hypergamous” as people say?
  • Are there certain cities or universities where it’s easier to meet people and have a more open social scene?
I just want to experience life a bit, make friends, meet new people, and feel like I’m actually living instead of just existing in a bubble. Any advice or recommendations would mean a lot. Thanks for reading all this genuinely appreciate anyone who replies.❤️

I live in the US, Boston exactly. The dating culture is really open. Almost all of my friends have girlfriends and everyone is open about it. I feel like mostly everywhere in the US you can meet people. Girls are everywhere, and during the night in cities there always easy to find. I would definitely say to come when ur 18 or even sooner. If your brother had a great time here, im sure you will. Good luck bro
