The left side of my jaw is not just bigger but it also has a very straight shape and a better angle than my right. My right jaw is smaller and it's curved unlike my left, my chin also looks bigger on the left. Opening my mouth I can notice my entire jaw is rotated more to the side with my right jaw being closer to my upper jaws. I used to just think that I had better bone growth on the left but actually noticing my teeth shifted made me realize that my bite isn't just fucked up frontally but also sideways. When I tilt my head to accommodate my jaw actually looks better from both sides. When I was little I would breathe through my mouth due to frequent infections and it just fucked up my occlusion. My chin was so recessed it was just soo bad. I got some appliance from a dentist and it helped a little with the recession but I think it messed up my palate and now my dental midlines don't match. My left palate is properly formed and my wisdom teeth fit perfectly, my right is crooked and wisdom teeth as well as the rest are too packed I think that as soon as this malformation started to happen my left jaw formed a bite whilst my right didn't and so it accommodated by rotating. I have some TMJ issues but I don't think it's more than just occasional pain from strain, at least I hope. I'm thinking of expanding my right palate and seeing if a proper bite forms. What do you think? I wish I can return back to a normal tilt because my jaw would just be way less asymmetrical. I also have have a recessed chin that makes me look subhuman despite everything else being formed well so I hope that would get helped too. What advice do you have? What do you think? I can dm pictures

I would say got to ortho/maxfag and ask what can be done. When you touch your jaw on both sides, can you feel like one side's bones are bigger? If yes, don't even bother with chewing on smaller side.

Yes. My left jaw is more flared with a better, less steep gonial angle and slightly more bone around the ramus too

same lol

why not? imo having more masseter muscle on the weaker side might influence bone growth

Yeah i have the same thing. You can fix the palate with expander and the tmd. But i doubt it will influence in appearance to be honest. You probably didnt chew much in the right side like me. Did u thumbsucked?

wdym dont even bother? Doesnt he need to chew on exactly this side?

dm pics, is your occlusion plane tilted left or right? u have a deviated septum?
Like this but a little less severe. I don't have a teeth scan copy right now but I can send you photos of my jaw tomorrow if that even matters. My septum is a little deviated but I can't actually see it, a doctor pointed it out

I mean it's too late. Bones won't grow when he is adult. Stop coping with chewing and get specialist opinion

Idk how much I can help but send me the pics. You might need jaw correction surgery tbh. Are one of your shoulders also higher than the other?

if u go to a specialist and find out ur options would u tag me and lmk

think need jaw surgery at that point cuz its bone deformation
True, especially if you're an adult your bones will already be formed braces might not do much

it isnt cope. The literal specialist opinion in TMD cases is to chew in the underdeveloped size lol. It will affect the bone in the long term because the tmj is dislocated

yea chewing affects bone growth apparently

but how many years will it take? especially post puberty

“Our data indicate that masticatory force can prompt changes in facial structure by modulating the function of cells that regulate bone reconstruction,” said coauthor Tomoki Nakashima of the Tokyo Medical and Dental University. “This discovery, that increased chewing itself can directly change the shape of the jawbone, could facilitate the development of treatments for skeletal abnormalities, such as jaw deformities.”

impossible to say. Most cases no difference. The focus should be in solving the tmd.

Hm that's hopeful, it's worth a try as there's a chance it'll work and even if it's minimal its a still an improvement

tmj isnt the problem. it s a symptom. you should get bimax. i think they can make you straight.

yh but not regular chewing thats done fuck all for me, think hard mastic gum consistently only (and that might not make a difference either)

its lucky other people dont notice the asymetry but it does make us uglier

I have the same problem @TRUE_CEL maybe its because of my teeth positioning my jaw is assymetrical because its strong on the right for me and it doesnt sit properly on the left

Might be because of your eating habits. Do you use one side of your face to chew?

impossible to say. Most cases no difference. The focus should be in solving the tmd.
So one can solve tmd just with chewing? For people with tmd doctors usually say to avoid hard foods. I'm 17 and would be lifefuel since to start chewing again, it is good for bone development

nah imo it could be that but because my teeth alignment they dont align to the left its slightly shifted to the right i can feel it in my bite so hopefully I can fix it

Are you asking whether I have scoliosis? I actually do, mildly but my actual frame could also be slightly bigger on one side if that's what you mean

No thumbsucking or prolonged pacifier use, just the mouth breathing I assume. I chewed on both sides

No, when your jaw is fcked up (crossbite or TMJ) usually one of your shoulders ends up higher than the other

i had to stop smoking because of tmj. got too painful

expansion using devices usually expands in the plane of the palate, not the midline of the face. I did MSE and it descended my lower canted side even more. Its a trade off of expansion/cant.

This may sound weak, retarded, or cope but to start off with sleep on your stronger side on a firm v-shaped pillow with regular pillows supporting underneath to get the right height.

Same but right insteaf

Same but with my right side is clapped. Heard thats called an unilateral crossbite and its hard to fully correct. But lifefuel for you: surgeon told me tmj is likely to go away and its quite fixable.
