idk if its bait

but dont train abs unless you are lower than 10% bf, maybe train them once a week

If you dont lose fat the abs are never gonna show

yes but you have fat over them and they will not be visible, I said show not grow

5ft 7, 135, 20, roughly

Ok so now you have 2 choices

1. Recommended: bulk up a bit 100 calories above maintenance, start lifting weights and get to 150, and then cut (4-5 months at least to get visible abs)

2. Not recommended: lean down, eat in a 200 calorie deficit and get abs in 2 months. (and train them everyday)

2nd option you will be skinny af and I dont recommend that

100 above maintenance :lul: :lul: ? It's almost impossible to make sure you eat that little over maintenance. Nutrition labels are up to 20% inaccurate, BMR varies by a few percent from person to person and it doesn't take into account daily activities
100kcal is NOTHING, that's 20 minutes of walking time

Even if he eats at maintenance he will still gain muscle because he's a beginner.

if you're 20% bf dont bulk up, just keep training at a slight deficit 300-400 kcal, you'll build muscle and burn fat at the same time if you're a beginner.
And for the abs, I just do weighted pull ups and weighted push ups, that works your core really well, as well as maybe 4 sets of leg raises to failure 3x per week. should definitely be enough for them to pop

Abs are still a muscle and all muscle need to be built. Yes you will only see you abs at a lower body fat but same could be said for most muscles.

thats retarted
train abs after every workout, it will honestly make a big difference and your core can still look decent at 14-15% bf

nah op assess your own situation and train accordingly
some guys will indeed end up having nice abs without training them with isolate exercises, but that might not be your case

if you had subhuman posture all your life and thus developed weak core, glutes and abs, you WILL need to train them if you want to look good. bf% is a huge aspect but it is not everything

i've been seeing this advice everywhere that you never need to train abs, doing compound exercises that include abs is enough, but just a few days ago i saw a very shredded guy on reddit and he said he does abs exercises everyday.

situps till failure each day wont take you more than 5 minutes and theres no way it wouldnt help get more definition

Do toes to bar 3 sets 2x/week or knee raises if you're too weak for that
