Training obliques is worth it, not just rectus abdominis + parts of obliques with sit-ups/crunches/leg-hip raises but obliques too, especially the lower V-line with rotation. Many guys cope this muscle group is ugly but this is COPE women love well-built obliques and a "greco-roman" midsection, in studies it is one of the highest rated most attractive/highest SMV muscle groups. You only get ugly blocky abs if you are on tons of drugs especially HGH and lots of roids and insulin lol.. not if you are natty or moderately roiding. 40% of front abs are literally obliques.

Tl;dr Training obliques is worth it and guys thinking obliques are ugly/low SMV are COPING.

Well.. I don't recommend training them heavy, sore obliques are one of those muscle groups that feel nasty as hell when they are really sore. Just train rectus abdominis too as focus but it is a good idea to do a little bit of obliques too

Never really trained them directly just keep them with diet tbhtbh

You don't even train forward flexion/abs generally? It still hits obliques a bit just not 100%, lower V-line is only trained in stability from this in preventing rotation to any side. Still builds it but not as much as direcr work for ex

Diet for abs bit cope as in... you get way better abs if you train them directly by a lot. Not just dieting. Do both.

How would you suggest training obliques?

I do situps, hanging knee-to-chest and ocassionally some isometrics, I'm sure those count to some degree, was just saying that I never do oblique specific movements like that one twister machine

Train forward flexion ie sit-ups/crunches/leg-HIP raises(not leg raises) for vertical fibers of obliques(and a bit of the diagonal ones), rotation for lower horizontal fibers and the V-line especially, lateral flexion for diagonal and outer fibers. Don't need to do much just one set each is good. 👍 Well 1-2x sets of failure for the sit-ups/crunches/leg-hip raises but other ones imo one set each kind of enough weekly on top of all indirect training obliques get from other gym exercises, well assuming you do stuff that hits them indirectly lol.

Ye this still gives decent obliques over time but if you train obliques a little bit extra you get even better gains and even sexier obliques. 😉 That is all! Don't be afraid of getting "too big obliques"

I was under the impression that body weight exersise like ssit ups were wildly inefficen compared to exersise you could progressively overload using weights, like cable wood chopers

Regular sit-ups flat on the floor suck cock but not on an incline say. My gym has a station you hang upside down that is amazing for abs. Indirect abs work works too but won't give you nowhere near as good abs as including direct dynamic work. 👍

Can't lie I am eating Ben & Jerry's half baked icecream right now and haven't worked out in like 2 weeks outside of running a few miles, plus I'm not on a cycle so nothing is getting too big

Everytime I think about working out I remember I have four rectus cuts and can never look like Eren Jaeger

I feel like there no real point in training obliques unless you already have abs, like i'd JFL if I saw some 30% bf fat guy training them, overall I think atleast 10-15%bf, what do you think

Obliques are most def a fear mongered muscle to hit
Tho I do believe there is such thing as too much when it comes to that specific muscle tho

But ignoring them is silly
When done right, they can mog for sure

Frank Zane had one of the best midsections ever and his obliques were massive. I think only times obliques can look bad is if you got really bad ribcage to hips proportions or some shit or maybe terrible insertions(rare), but most of the times they are aesthetic as fuck IMO, assuming everything else is balanced.

As for disgusting blocky abs guts it is obvious it comes from massive gear use + lots of hgh and insulin too lol, like on the biggest bodybuilders or powerlifters, it doesn't come naturally or if you are only taking moderate amounts of roids. Oldschool bodybuilders that only used androgens for roiding never had those ugly disgusting midsections, it is a modern issue.

Obliques are good, just be lean and have a good V-taper build with wide lats and serratus anterior and big rectus abdominis and it looks balanced.

And if im not lean, then? or i dont have wide lats, a good v taper, etc...
For me it sounds like "Yea bro obliques are good if you are already a sikkunt"

Yeah? What did you think? Train obliques on their own and skipping rest of your body??!!!! Of course not

Obliques are heavily what gives you that insane greco-roman midsection 😘🥰 30-40% of your sexy front abs + V-line are obliques
