Treat injuries seriously

I had a muscle reaggravated in injury for many months and continued working out, having poor posture etc... Thinking it would go away like every other injury. Well it just grew worse and worse until it completely ruptured, no surgery can be performed and no one is to blame but me. I'm probably never going to regain full function of my neck again, can never play contact sports again, can never do overhead lifting again.
