What would usually look better, a low ESR with good FWHR and facial index, or a good ESR with low FWHR and long skull

That depends on how you define good, since both measurements are obviously strongly correlated.
A low ESR can appear acceptable if it's due to a broad skull and the IPD remains within a normal range.
However, a low IPD, especially below 60 mm, almost always results in subhumanity, and this is further exacerbated by an excessively long mid-face.
In these cases, a shorter mid-face can somewhat compensate for a low ESR.

In my case my overall face shape thirds facial index and fwhr are all ideal. My esr though is at .43, my ipd is 65 mm and my icd is 1-1. My mfr is bad as well tho at .92 but I do have a long philtrum so with a normal philtrum it would be .96. My skull is broad and tall yet people say the esr failos me

If your eye separation ratio is 1:1, that’s ideal. A ratio of around 0.43 is still okay-ish and only looks off when paired with a poor overall eye separation.
For example, people like Chris Hemsworth, Alain Delon, or Johnny Depp do have 0.43, none of whom are generally considered to have noticeably close-set eyes.

Well my esr in the mirror with back cam is .42 but I used a 50mm focal length camera and it was .431. Also those people you mentioned don’t have bad midface ratios mine is 0.92
