What should you do on Instagram to get people to follow you? (Instagrammaxx)

I was thinking about this earlier, but I think starting off with social media is a great way to make connections in real life, especially if you feel like you are not ready yet to approach people in real life. Mainly, my idea would be to follow people locally that you feel are very similar to you, however, I’m not sure how exactly you could get people to follow you back and befriend you.

I managed to get a girl to follow me on both my personal account and my hobby account, and surprisingly, she got her friends to follow me on those accounts as well. So, it is clearly possible to get people locally to follow you back on Instagram, even without trying too hard. But, turning that into real life connection is the most difficult thing.

Is there anybody on this forum that has been able to do so? What do you do to make yourself more presentable on social media?
