has the looks, has the pheno, isn't a manlet (even though this isn't that much of an advantage on screen)

he's had a couple of pretty good roles (the count of monte cristo, the thin red line, that corny christcuck movie), but isn't really an A-lister.

gives off boring, introverted abused dog vibes, though; i guess that's what drastically reduces his range.

my first association to him as an actor is a movie about a mysterious guy who shows up in a random town where everyone knows everyone, and making the locals uneasy because no one has a clue what he is up to. wouldn't be surprised if he's actually played in something similar already.

surprised this thread failed, ngl

thread success is really random on here. i've had way dumber, 0 effort threads blow up randomly, yet this ontopic one, where i'm not even fishing for validation, just disappeared from the first couple of pages

Anything about hollywood like that is probably partially luck

+ I remember seeing some stuff on how he's pretty outspoken about politics/religion. If you're not already huge being on the "controversial" side of that can fuck up your career

legit, specially the first line (didn't know about the second one). there are probably thousands of guys looking at least as good as globally recognized A-listers trying to make their way in hollywood, but they just didn't luck out with a role/movie that blew up

a lot of nepotism and networking at play too

Jon Hexum was never big. Although he did die super young.

Matt Bomer was never an A lister.

honestly, overrated. if he wasn't gay, those same women saying corny stuff like "why are all the handsome guys gay" would be repulsed by his mannerisms and gayface

He wasn’t gay at all before he came out. He was like a regular dude. Maybe slightly zesty but he’s an actor.

You’re telling me his 97% facial harmony would turn women off. Sure buddy.

Works like that everywhere, to be fair

I'm trying to work in a pretty technical industry and you think that would be all about skill, right? Nope

There are a lot of teams at pretty big companies that have actually worked on projects that were ahead of their time but ended up failing because the market wasn't there for them just yet. Few years later, the same thing blew up. If the same people had been on this team years later, they undeniably would have done a lot better career wise

I go to a good college and manage to get good grades, but admittedly I am pretty lazy. But one of my professors is a former high up at an top company in the industry, just forming a relationship with him has put me ahead of people who grind 24/7.

Though I'm guessing hollywood is even worse because so few actually make it, even though practically anyone would become a movie star if they had the choice

you can tell something is "off", man. don't be fooled by virtue signalling hordes overyhyping the guy

slightly zesty is a massive understatement. and not sure what does him being an actor have to do with it, it's not that producers can change someone's deeply ingrained nature

I will kind of agree with you. When he looks more masculine he looks insane but he does look gay in some photos.
