I go to a top 5 CS school. I also had an internship in highschool, my highschool CS teacher was an In for that one. I also had a bunch of non-tech work experience, not sure if that actually helped. It sucked though because the Jews still had us doing it 90% virtually because covid. But it was good money.


Don't feel bad for not doing what I did, I have a feeling a big part of the reason I got accepted into the CS program at my school is because my parents are low income and I'm a first gen college student. They discriminate hard in admissions based on things you can't control.


If you want to get into FAANG basically just get straight A's, get as many good projects as you can, and get any old internship you can ASAP. Also prepare for technical interviews. I know a lot of people who got into these good internships that went to no name or mediocre schools.
