Will my twin block recess my maxilla (14)

My orthodontist has give me a twin block appliance to help with my recessed mandible and over bite, however I’m am concerned that the appliance will recess my maxilla as-well as pulling my jaw forward.

Do I stop this and beg for jaw surgery or will I be fine.
