Are whiskey and cigar enjoyers just bullshitting or are there really such nuanced differences in taste

I've been watching this whiskey and cigar reviewer and the way he describes the taste of some of these is like the second coming of christ.

I was whisky+cigar maxxing a couple of years ago. Tried a lot of different varieties and there's definitely cool nuanced differences.

Didn't find it a worthwhile hobby in the end though. I still drink good whisky from time to time.

High end liquors taste much differently, but they still taste bad.
