that reminds me, the only people that can pull off bleaching their hair are those that already have light hair to begin with, anything past dirty blond will look fried by the time it's white.

Have you tried bleaching instead of dying? Some people use peroxide + developer to lighten. You get it done at a salon or do it at home if you’re careful.

don't use bleach if your hair is brown unless it's for highlights, it'll ruin the texture completely.

You cant color your hair a lighter color with just the dye you need to lift the color first with bleach. I myself have black hair and figured out how to lighten it to brown with no bleach or dye
