Introduction:
Alright, listen closely. We're at a crossroads. Ever since TikTok kids decided to raid this forum and dumb down the conversation, @Master has been forced to deny all new applications. While this helps in the short term, it's clear that there's an underlying problem that needs addressing: the degradation of intellectual discourse.Problem Analysis:
Administrative Measures
Master's recent decision to deny all new applications is a clear sign that things have gotten out of hand. But let's face it, closing the doors isn't a long-term solution. We need to address the core issues here.Youth and Uninformed Members
The 'TikTok invasion' dragged in a younger and less informed crowd. While youth isn't necessarily a sign of ignorance, the behavior we've seen from the new wave suggests a lack of willingness to engage thoughtfully.Intellectual Laziness
Whether it's replying with 'DNR' or asking questions that have already been answered in the original post, the intellectual laziness is rampant. We need to halt this decline and put an end to the anti-intellectualism that's taking over.Let me give you some examples:
1. Lack of sentience:
In this thread: https://looksmax.org/threads/propos...agement-on-looksmax-org.813764/#post-12568066, 8 people responded with some variation of 'DNR' in the span of an hour. This shows a lack of sentience on the forum. These members are unoriginal NPCs.
2. ADHD, Lack of willingness to read.
I created this thread: https://looksmax.org/threads/chat-gpt-confirms-bonesmashing.808705/. , which contains a comprehensive guide on bonesmashing. One would assume that those interested in the topic would take the time to read it. However, that's not what transpired. Multiple people asked questions that were explicitly answered in the thread itself. Had they simply read through it, there'd be no need to ask.
Here's @Tyrone06 doing this:
He inquires about something I've clearly laid out in the guide. And his response?
He says he'd rather watch TikToks. Then he has the audacity to pose yet another question that was ALREADY ADDRESSED IN THE THREAD.
So what does someone like him bring to the forum? Absolutely nothing. He's a net negative. His mere participation degrades the quality of the forum.
Proposed Solutions:
- Read or Leave: If you're not going to bother reading the material, then don't bother participating. The forum should be for those willing to engage at an intellectual level.
- Quality Over Quantity: While @Master is already denying applications, maybe we can implement a screening process for when applications open up again. A simple quiz on forum basics could filter out those who aren't serious.
- Harsher Moderation: Mods, let's step up the game. Low-effort posts and comments should be met with instant warnings, and repeat offenses should lead to bans.
