Contrary to what most people think, the red hair gene isn't originated in Ireland or Europe but is from ancient north Asia, it's from southeastern Siberia, not too far from the Altai mountains.
Europe became a refuge for red hair people and White people in general. They moved to Europe at the right timing,8 thousand years ago.
Else their Altai mountains would have been encircled by the nascent mongoloid race and slowly assimilated, Wich became the case for many White Asian farmers, and Genghis Khan with his red hair is descendent of those people.
