Getting braces

My teeth aren’t very straight and I feel like I should get braces but I’ve heard different things like it recesses you further I do have a overbite so if that got fixed it could be good but if there are bad other effects idk if it’s worth it. Also I’ve heard of other alternatives like Damon braces or however tf you spell it but it cost extra and how am I supposed to explain that I want them to help my face cuz they would just call me stupid and tell me not to believe everything I see online and not get them for me. Is there a way I could convince them to get that version if it’s better without including that it makes your face better?
