If you press hard with your tounge to your pallate and at the same time are chin tucking there are two major risks you should be aware of:

1. You can irritate and even compress the trigeminal maxillary nerve which goes just above your palate and regulate among other things body tempratuare and heart rate. In a worst case scenario you could cause a so called "electrical storm" within the hearts signaling system which is fatal.

2. If you press your tougne extremely hard and too far back it can create intercranial pressure to the degree that brain swelling and inflamation aswell as serious brain illnesses can form.

I'm not writing this to scare people or keep people away from mewing. I'm just advocating for sanity, resting the tounge at the roof of your mouth without applying any pressure is enough.

Compression on a nerve requires weeks or months of constant interference to have any real effects, and as soon as they appear, they'll stop as soon as you remove the compression.

Well thanks for telling us, so basically we're f'ed if we do, f'ed if we don't, that's jiust great

Its true. I broke my leg mewing once. Bonesmashing is a safer option.

Mewing correctly has no "hidden dangers". It's just pressing the tongue on the palate, how could it even compress a nerve? If nerves could get damaged from light forces like your tongue, we'd probably be dead. It's actually ideal posture, so it would not make much since for mewing to be dangerous.
