In those war times, people who were Christians were prepared to die because they believed they could get into heaven if they suffered the death of a martyr, they saw a meaning in death and they were ready for it.

TBH pick up a hobby or meditation or something to keep your mind on. The desert hermits of the 3rd century (St. Anthony etc.) would be constantly weaving ropes or or building something with their hands, kind of like holding a rosary in your hands, the physical, mental, and prayer must all be combined. Also increase your metabolism with Ray Peat Theory and you will see a major increase in consciousness and appreciation for just being alive. Being "evil" jealous ETC comes as a result of poor metabolic health and feeling like we are under constant attack (cortisol)
