How do you tan correctly?

About to tan in the Australian heat tomorrow, shaving tonight to get the best coverage and open up them pores. Plan is spf +30 coconut oil and zinc sunscreen on face. Any other tanmaxxers have advice on getting a golden Barret tier complexion?
