Protecting your kids from degeneracy should always be priority, but if they never interact with the other little animals around the kids age he will be seen as a autistic pariah and develop anti social tendencies. I know they have "home school groups", but then you run the gambit of having your kid ONLY hang out with single mom autists. Parents discretion I say.

Homeschooled children always either vastly underperform in all the real skills, or slightly overperform. Never in between.
I think the ideal is to just take an active role in your childs education, ask them what they learned today, help them with their homework, teach them things yourself.
Most modern parents have completely stepped away from socialising and educating their children. Everything is handled by the screen and the teacher.

If I had a kid, then I would not send him to school.
I would homeschool him myself and teach him whatever I deem is necessary. From my experience school till grade 10 is useful. After 10th grade, school or any education institute is all about training/education given to students to make them good wage/corporate slaves for society.

Send him/her to school. Socialization is important and they have to able to live in environment where everything isn't comfortable to them. At the same time set specific learning objectives for them, making sure they are good at maths, physics, basic programming, economics. Give them various examples of careers on those fields and explain with stats on how becoming arts major isn't really a sane idea of good quality of life.
Meanwhile outside school push them explore their talents in music and sports. If they will be good enough, they can live on that. If not - they will still have the good basis in other fields from your approach.
