its not binary, not all patriarchies have same rules etc. if its like afghanistan for example its heavy patriarchy but hypergamy isnt an issue, matriarchy would most likely make hypergamy worse by making women in control

Its the opposite. Patriarchy means you average man has more power and leverage. This is due to social standards, social order etc. things that determine SMV for example.

Matriarchy like observed means female tendencies and nature reigns supreme. I think both patriarchy and matriarchy has its faults, but in the matriarchy, women have more power socially or caste wise. This obviously translates to more SMV.
