Is modern society sustainable?

I’ve been doing some pondering over the absurdity of modern life. The fact that we can even engage in this level of navel gazing is kind of crazy considering all the danger in this world. I just can’t really see how this society is sustainable with our level of resource consumption. Perhaps if there’s some sort of global initiative to switch back to a pre industrial way of leaving but I doubt it. Rabbit is out of the hat now. No way we willingly give over our iPhones.
