I came out here just before COVID, n then got a job at an international school due to everyone leaving the country, then current job due to nepotism, n just sign a contract for an international school due to prior exp at an international school

(I actually have a solid CV n took on a managerial role during COVID as a way to heavily boost CV n pay was good + created multiple entire curricula from scratch n achieved solid grades for students in International Baccalaureate/ Cambridge Qualifications/ Chinese Govt exams, amongst other shit)

They will hire non-native speakers for subject classes (science, maths) etc out here

but yeah being native speaker was a big help + I have an Eng Lit undergrad and an MSc

There are quite a few very chill positions - you do like 5 - 8hrs of teaching per week and make 9,000RMB+ with a free 1 bedroom apt on site. A lot of people do it for the huge amount of free time and long university holidays

It's up to you, but this is Anyang which is a tier 4 city in Henan

3 bedroom apartments for about 1400rmb on average, you could probably score a 2 bedroom for 1-1.2k a month if you wanted, would probably be about 2K with bills n maintenance fee - I assume the contract they gave you doesn't contain a housing allowance since they already provide you somewhere on campus

Renting in China is dirt cheap tbh - I have a 4 bedroom apartment to myself near the city centre of my city for 3.5k rmb, and I'm about 1.5 hours from Hong Kong and and the same from Macau door to door

Once you have a couple of years of experience you could increase ur earnings significantly or get access to jobs with better contract conditions easy

Getting the tax APP downloaded and installed is pretty useful/ important (All foreigners are eligible for a tax rebate + 4K RMB for each parent over the age of 65)
Getting a remittance APP set up for when you wanna send money home easily (I use Sky Remit)
Buying an e-bike (2 - 5k RMB)

I've taught everything from grade 2 to 11, but most of my experience is in middle school years

Where I live its almost always fine. The north is the worst cuz in winter they fire up all the coal power plants and that dirty air is cold and sits close to the ground.
