Lol in the UK it's essentially free, you get a student loan but no one pays it back it doesn't show on your credit files.
You also get grants and bursaries from the government.

It's 100% free for non-EU foreigners, son. I know for a fact because I know quite a few people who'll be going there for a near-free engineering degree (only have to pay rent and rents are cheap af in Germany).

There's no such as being required to "pay it back".

The only requirement for non-EU foreigners is take a couple German language sessions a week. Easy.
