Just got my palate expander

did your maxilla actually grow forward or did your teeth just tilt forward? cause wouldn't the constant stress on the bone grow it forward, like bonesmashing? but with little growth throughout the maxilla bone, ultimately it growing forward
I would like to think its a combination of both

Just got my palate expander. Lifefuel

Current stats:
1. 40.8mm intermolar width
2. Somewhat hollow cheeks with a somewhat noticeable ogee curve
3. Recessed maxilla and mandible
4. Very Narrow mouth (my mouth is only slightly wider than my nose jfl)
5. 8 teeth smile

Goals:
1. 48mm-50mm intermolar width
2. Very noticeable hollow cheeks and very prominent over curve
3. Fix my recessed maxilla and mandible
4. Achieve a wide mouth in hopes of fixing my shit mouth to nose ratio
5. 12 teeth smile

I’m going to do a multiple month transformation with this and let you know the results. Let me know if you want to be tagged in my future palate expander transformation post. Also let me know if you have any questions and let me know what you think about this.

I dont recommend the expander tbh. I only got 1-2 mm of growth which is better than nothing i guess but it started to get really uncomfortable on the tongue and teeth after the 2nd month of wearing it which was weird because ive never had any uncomfort until that 2nd month hit.

I dont recommend it. I just bought a reviv mouthguard which MIGHT help with the palate so I will try that first before I start to recommend that

you might've needed to keep it off as your bone adjusts to the new changes, seems possible. Then go back to it afterwards. Regardless I bought mine a few months ago and it's finally coming, that 2mm will do lots for me, I may get more mm because im 15

Yeah do it and also lateral Thumbpull but with pliers instead (no joke) pliers give way more force than thumbs and will increase your results with the palate expander. Ideally do both

how much do you realistically think my palate will widen from a 2-3 week period?

1 mm probably but maybe even 2mm if you go very hard with the pliers (5 minutes a day is enough but ideally 10) and wear the expander 24/7

Yea I created a diastama, it’s not huge though but still noticeable and the diastama pokes my tongue when I put it there

Are you doing something to fix it?

are there any risks of severe assymetries by doing it on your own?
Not with pliers. Force is equal. The expander also has equal force. Only when force is greater on one side than the other will you cause Assyemtricies which is mainly achieved through thumbpulling

Would you recommend:

I'm looking to get upper and lower jaw, and looking to wear it for 1-2 years, (as in, I am ok with progress taking a while). Would you recommend it? whats your progress been like?

Looks pretty good. If you can, get it with a twin block appliance (it’s on the same website) as well, the 3 screw appliance would be for the maxilla and the twin block would be for the mandible. I’d also recommend thumbpulling as well to speed up progress from the expanders

how old are you? i doubt you'll reap much reward unless this is a screw in or surgery palate expander
