I see IQ two ways, how fluidly capable you are vs how crystalized you are, that's how basic psychology recognizes it. With that said, I would ideally want to be highly fluidly capable, but that's only serving to personal interests, being further crystalized is more beneficial towards succeeding in life. We can increase the crystalized with effort and time, I think the fluid is primarily genetic with short bursts of windows to improve it before it gradually decreases with degradation.

To become better crystalized, I say get the bases down first, you should have a clear understanding of your native language, you should have a clear understanding of reading and writing, arithmetic and algebra, sciencies, physics, social studies. Get the basic bases down for everything, I have never met a capable human that wouldn't do well on a SAT or ACT, which are tests that primarily measure crystallized.


So I say, get the bases down to advanced/expert mode, and also focus on doing what increases your crystalized intelligence.

No, @4Inch4 is right, but it's better explained with children. Children, while of course, malleable, that lends to my bursts of windows for fluid change, but the main thing with children when it comes to instruments, language learning, skill learning, etc., is that they fucking put in the time, they don't doubt themselves to the degree that adults and teens do.

if you think that 120-130 IQ is high then you're right. i was talking about people with 130-145+ IQ since that's considered high and not just above average. it's obvious that higher than average IQ means you were more likely to be born into a white and wealthy family and therefore more happy on average, but IQ isn't the only factor that determines happiness and it's mostly determined by life circumstances. guys with down syndrome have very low IQ and seem more happy than some high IQ professor.
