If you take your birth as a starting point, there are a few variables that influence your life path like the country and race you’re born into, education level of your parents, family’s economic background and connections etc. These determine your initial life path which creates more variables which in turn influence your future path in life. You get the idea.

There’s not much space for randomness, someone you know personally or a public figure might have gotten lucky later in their life but this is more of an exception than a rule. You really don’t have much control over your life even if it feels more intuitive to believe you do than adopting a fatalistic view of life
