What is mental posture? The way you carry yourself mentally and how you allow others to interact with you.

Mental posture dictates your default state of judgement, objectives and core axiomatic beliefs [1]. Whereby it influences your momentary decision making, long term goals and aligns with predisposed truths developed throughout your life thus far.

For all intents and purposes - believing in yourself, and intentionally shunning known shortcomings will have a favourable affect on your life - within reasonable bounds [2]. As it will cause less hesitation and make you appear more self assured - provided you don't share your mental self-awareness with others - obviously being considered “arrogant”.

People:
Just as you are, every other person is a culmination of associations that have been developed throughout their existence, dictating how they act now by referencing previous events in their life and making decisions relevant to how they've interpreted previous outcomes.

People will begin to like you if they’re sympathetic to hobbies/traits/ideals that are shared between you.

If someone divulges too much information about themself, relative to how much has been shared by both parties they may be a retard (consult the definition below). Universally true for you also.

The key to associating with people, is to share info relevant to the person/group you want to join. Oversharing too much information is overwhelming, especially when being introduced - consequently you will come across as a retard.

The most succinct way I can live my life is by ensuring I don't listen to retarded people due to the effect of social contagion (behaviour, emotions, or conditions spreading spontaneously through a group or network).

People - Associations
These people are a hierarchy of close friends, friends, associates or people you know.

The reason you should associate with these people is because their traits/goals/ideals align with your own, and you benefit from associating with them due to social contagion.

Hierarchy with people is important - as it's often misused or not understood and implemented incorrectly.

There exists only one indicator of how you should rank people in your social hierarchy - how much both parties in a relationship know of each other (provided the ratio of knowledge is close to 1:1).
The best indicator of how high someone deems you in their social hierarchy is the time they spend with you, combined with how much information they share to you (relational to how much they typically share with others - consider oversharers and isolationlets).

To place yourself higher in others' social hierarchy, be interested in their interests that they share with you - and be a attentive listener (ask questions, eye contact, responsive body language).

People - Retards Associations
  • A person so fundamentally stupid, it serves no purpose to entertain their existence unless you benefit from their inability to understand life through some means of extortion, albeit financial or other.

Some people may be so completely detached from how life functions, that they may never gain any actual agency, and constantly be the sole self-destructing force in their own life.

Common examples of people that have retardation:
  • Social retard: Someone who constantly disrupts flow of any social situation, by asking “if they're making anyone uncomfortable”, “if they're being annoying” etc. They're socially awkward and will disrupt conversations had with others.
  • Oversharing retard: Someone that constantly overshares info to gain attention. e.g. someone who shares their slay stories, someone relatively unknown trauma dumping.
  • Political retard: Someone openly political.
  • Money retard: Someone that discusses financial situations to their entire extent.
  • Predisposed retard: Someone that is openly sexist/homophobic/racist.
  • Wasteful retard: Someone that willingly wastes large quantities of their time with useless activities such as videogames, TV shows or political nuance.

  • Retardation, the definition that I will refer to; is someone who is so entirely attention starved - they base their entire agency on performing stunts that give negative attention/validation.

What to think at all times: Definitive list of commandments
  1. You are better than everyone else - your hierarchy of associations and your partners. See:
Don't become a weakling either, don't get attached. Don't trust your friends. Most people will exploit weakness when they smell it.
  2. Always look up, have good posture and speak with your diaphragm.
  3. NEVER tell people your problems, figure it out yourself. Never be in a vulnerable state, because people will take advantage of you. See:
Don't EVER tell your niggas about issues you have. They will use it against you if you guys ever start beefing with each other. They will also talk behind your back about how much of a weak bitch you are.
  4. Don't speak when you have nothing to say. Less is more, in almost all social situations unless you're purposefully appealing to someone's oversharing - and you're intentionally seeming interested in someone's sharing of information. Be fully aware of all conversations you're involved in. See:
Don't speak unless you have to. Don't be quiet but at the same time don't be obnoxious and loud. The more you talk, the more chance you have of slipping up.
  5. No one is better than you, and you like your peers equally - anything resembling a favourable likeness is simply due to similarities that can change just as you will. Don't get attached.
  6. If you’re decent looking, anyone you sleep with (attractive women) will be sleeping with other attractive people.
  7. Have no sentimental things that remind you of people you no longer associate with. Get rid of all things that serve no purpose. Your surroundings will influence you, so always start with a clean slate every day.
  8. If you feel any inkling of animosity/anxious/likeness to anyone, remove yourself from the situation completely - don't make any emotionally charged decisions.
  9. If you can't take yourself seriously - and sympathise with any of the loose definitions of “retard” that I have provided above - people won't take you seriously and subsequently, people will take you as a joke.
  10. If you feel docile, complete or fulfilled - find something to be “hungry” over. Personally I know something is wrong if I'm ever entirely content with my situation, and will begin to give up on previously set in place structures and routines.
  11. If you feel lazy, achieve small goals (get out of bed), and cascade small objectives into larger things (get ready for the day). I find I provide myself meaningless reprieves or cheats from doing small things - but realistically I can replace them with more productive actions, e.g. after getting ready, I can allot time to the gym instead of wasting it.
  12. Don’t be on Instagram, it will rape your mind with the sheer amount of content that is misleading e.g. ugly guys with better looking women, highly attractive women in surplus, people being colloquial close friends, pushed policies or products etc. I become such a retard if I spend any amount of time scrolling and drain all of my energy.
  13. People lie, and you will never know. Never take anything seriously, treat every piece of information you know about individuals and come to your own conclusions.

How to recover your mental posture:
In the case of some traumatic event - some influence of emotion/nostalgia/abuse - it's very feasible you might revert to previous habits and attitudes of life. This escape to your previously safe mindset is detrimental to your development long term, causing an infinitely unhealthy loss of agency - you become agency deficient.
Things to do:
  • Acknowledge situations where you’re significantly better than peers in some category. E.g. when your hair, skin, muscles, race or attire rapes that of another - take note of how much they fail to match you.
  • Acknowledge others’ shortcomings (not a comparison of you). E.g. someone falls over, gets rejected or someone exuberant gets checked.
  • Isolation. Isolation is the best remedy for resetting and recuperating any sense of lost self - make an active effort to avoid associates and conversations whilst you find yourself at a lost state, to prevent an invalid representation of yourself.
  • Achieve easy and small things - cascade them into larger goals. To redevelop your agency - realise the connection between your own actions, and the success felt from achieving goals.

    Things to avoid:
  • Avoid all vulnerable situations, especially where rejection is an option.
  • Do not perform with the expectation of gratitude. You're not society's slut - and you yourself have something better to do.
  • Avoid nostalgia pertaining to any time where you were mentally maladapted. Picture yourself prior to reading this thread - or potentially the time prior being exposed to looksism and self improvement. Sympathising with an agency deficient version of yourself vicariously invites added emotions that may be overwhelming and prolong the current offset of mental posture.

Compartmentalization:
Just as I preach the importance of judgement - I implore you to realise how much influence you have over placement in future situations. The above guide is null and void when it comes to multitasking separate unrelated aspects in life - you will see a less desirable result spread out across multiple facilities.

Compartmentalization is your friend - just as study should be treated separately to socialising with new individuals, skillsets required to talk to associates can be shared. Discerning different activities - and realising the skills/setting/and attitude required is the entirety of compartmentalization.

Study and education - you should never eat where you shit. Study needs to be taken seriously - and you shouldn't mix the attitude you have when socialising with that of the attitude you adopt when you study. Study requires a specific setting - consider the actual environment you study in, the people you’re with and how you treat them. You should always notice yourself swapping mindsets between activities - as important things require a new mindset completely and should be taken in full seriousness.

Random people require you to be extremely outgoing and controlling of the conversation - obviously in the case of just meeting someone where you're asking questions and getting to know them. Keep your own responses concise and allow them to ask questions in return - if their output doesn't meet yours after a brief introduction, you can safely bet they're not interested and you should rotate out. Rotating is a good method to allow you to move on from something previously draining where you didn't see the ROI you were looking for - including meeting girls or dancing with them. See yourself out if something/someone doesn't vibe with how you're portraying yourself - some people are very retarded in this manner and will openly shut new conversation down if they're not in the mood - remembering that any retardation is a good signal to indicate how low value someone else may be as a future associate candidate.

Some final thoughts:
How you think about yourself is the single most important thing in your life. It dictates your judgement and objectives (things I will go over in depth in future).

Mental posture is something you should resort to, just as it's healthy to correct your spinal posture - you should constantly correct your mental posture.

There are periods of your life where your current emotional state may supersede your logically conceived mental posture. As I've suggested above, it's in your best interest to act within the bounds of logic - and eliminate any emotional weighting in any active judgements made. Devise a coping mechanism to isolate the cause of the emotional distress and minimise its involvement to resort back to your homeostatic baseline mental posture.

If you share sympathy to any of the themes found on this forum - this particular template of mental posture will progress constructive and true themes that will genuinely assist you - without elevation of volition in one's self-construction.

These are threads that I have compiled and extrapolated upon to come up with a very conceptual core mental state talked about in this thread - as it strays into particular facilities like: maintaining friends, how to hold a conversation, how to seem interesting, how to slay, how to NT max.

  • This is entirely true, and why I bring up the importance of establishing your own mental posture. Retiring back to your mental posture will resolve this.

To further my thoughts - I’ve conjured up articles that discuss principles I skim in the event you want more information.

[1] - Judgement, objectives and core predisposed axioms.

https://www.jstor.org/stable/10.1086/231294?seq=1

This article goes further into the breaking down of agency into three components, aligning similarly with what I’ve suggested above -

“The authors conceptualize agency as ... informed by the past [core axioms] but also oriented toward the future [objectives] and toward the present [practical-evaluative judgment].” - where I’ve inserted my definitions in place of their explanations (their reasoning can be found in the abstract - as that's where I’ve ripped this passage from).

Iterative Schemas VS Axioms - why have I used axioms?
An axiom in this sense is the internalised baseline assumption for a particular moment.

[2] - The Optimal Margin of Illusion

Baumeister, R. F. (1989). The optimal margin of illusion. Journal of Social and Clinical Psychology, 8(2), 176–189.

https://scispace.com/papers/the-optimal-margin-of-illusion-38u0iq19d1

Obviously my main contention follows a safe level of self-trust that someone should synthetically inflate to maintain a higher functioning attitude to carry them throughout their lives. Provided someone is hyper-critical of their actions, they may align with traits typically seen in anxious or depressed individuals - alternatively someone oblivious to their influence on others will appear arrogant.

There is a safe level of operating in between the two extremes - but highlighting the existence of self-illusion as a concept one should be aware of is the key takeaway. This article also suggests people should have a falsehood of their ability to influence outcomes - take this with some nuance, as an overestimation of influence may cause unnecessary anguish over outcomes uncontrollable. Following an extremely stoic outlook may be favourable in this sense.

“By seeing things as only slightly better than they really are, the individual may enjoy the affective benefits of illusions while avoiding the pragmatic, behavioral risks of acting on false assumptions.”

Majestic thread bhai :feelshah:, you shouldn't always rely on people blindly of course. People shouldn't let their existence revolve around others 24/7. People can let you down at any time, no matter how close they are to you personally, and no matter how credible they are. Don't 100% expect to be spoonfed by anyone. People can do wrong to you, to others, and even themselves at times, and people will either 1 judge you regardless 2 are too busy focusing on themselves usually, so don't be constantly worried about what others care about you 24/7, not easy to adapt to if your mental posture is out of place but one must adapt to their external environment. Don't be socially retarded worrying about others 24/7. It's bittersweet people either have valuable ROI, or they don't and it hurts but they teach you about others and they can motivate and push you towards the right path via their actions in a harsh manner, kind of like a strict teacher in some sense.

high IQ, well written and required reading, most ppl here are moreso just mentalcels rather than ugly
- Very much appreciated - and I agree entirely.

- Frankly is extremely hard to find people who share harsh, yet constructive news on improvement - online and especially in real life. Id appreciate more ailments to "mentalceldom" - so if you find any applicable threads just pm me.

- Again that's a very important discretion you've made - and agree with. I hope I make it quite clear how important establishing a stable sense of self is - where its not dependent on validation from outside influences (obviously in this case being other people). Anecdotally, and from what I've read, the most common denominator when it comes to social instability - or lack of enjoyment from other individuals - stems from a unstable or inconsistent identity from a person.
Don't 100% expect to be spoonfed by anyone.
- Obviously everyone expects something in return for their time - and as an individual if you can make your vicinity a hot commodity, you might attract similarly successful people.

- Having all of your shortcomings at the forefront of you mind will only serve to hinder your daily life - but moments of reflection on how to improve are also mandatory. This particular thought is tailored to more anxious people, but is still applicable to those who who exist in this ecosystem of self-improvement.

- As you keep alluding too, its a balancing act between a healthy amount of recognition and action. Regardless of effort, others will always innately undermine you - so I suggest people pivot away from requiring the approval of others, and become self sufficient in their own supply of validation.

- Socialization is entirely mandatory, and the skills required to determine if an interaction will provide a favorable ROI are only developed after experiencing retards, and having multiple retarded conversations.

See:
  2. Always look up, have good posture and speak with your diaphragm.
  3. NEVER tell people your problems, figure it out yourself. Never be in a vulnerable state, because people will take advantage of you. See:
  4. Don't speak when you have nothing to say. Less is more, in almost all social situations unless you're purposefully appealing to someone's oversharing - and you're intentionally seeming interested in someone's sharing of information. Be fully aware of all conversations you're involved in. See:

Mental posture
is the most fundamental component of developing yourself as a person, as it will shape what you allow your identity to be. If you share sympathy to any of the themes found on this forum - this particular template of mental posture will progress constructive and true themes that will genuinely assist you - without elevation of volition in one's self-construction.

Threads that I have found useful:
These are threads that I have compiled and extrapolated upon to come up with a very conceptual core mental state talked about in this thread - as it strays into particular facilities like: maintaining friends, how to hold a conversation, how to seem interesting, how to slay, how to NT max.

However, I would still like to comment on each thread, as they offer intricate details of advice that are relevant to “how you should think about yourself” - which is the purpose of this thread.

  • “Every maladaptive trait initially develops as a defence mechanism, but once it has outlived its usefulness, it serves only to hinder you.”
  • This is entirely true, and why I bring up the importance of establishing your own mental posture. People will become victims of their situation, and require some immediate coping mechanism to deal with a particular situation - that later, once the situation is resolved, will hinder them. Retiring back to your mental posture will resolve this.
  • “Effectively, it is who the subconscious mind thinks you are, not the conscious mind… Reshaping your identity is a matter of literally changing your internal wiring to favour different decisions, different feelings, different actions.”
  • “It is about creating the conditions for maximal identity plasticity, dedicating yourself to repetitive behaviours to convince your minds prediction circuits that things have changed, and constructing a coherent narrative for a new identity to emerge.”
  • Constantly reaffirming your identity through correction of mental posture will innately force your subconscious to fully adopt this identity. This thread is the main inspiration for this current thread, and future threads.

  • Read this thread in its entirety. It provides infinitely valuable information regarding identity.

  • “Start with something low risk, especially for those who are completely incapable of even small interactions. Make a comment about something irrelevant or pretend to be extremely happy about something which typically helps lower people's guards.”
  • The only meaningful information this guide offers is extremely valuable. Practice socializing, and analyze the “beats” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comic_timing) of the conversation, how it flows.

    https://looksmax.org/threads/how-social-interaction-actually-works.1793207/
  • “People mirror what you output. Zero input = zero output
  • “No one is coming to save you. No friendly person is going to crack your autistic shell. You are 100% responsible for the empty social reality you experience every day”
  • It is essential that you act involved in a conversation, if you want to be a participant.

Slaying guides -
Unfortunately all guides under the same pretense offer the same advice with different wording. To not dishonour their nuance, it's best you read them on your own - but here are some I’ve personally read and used. Ideally, you need nothing further then:

Citations, definitions and further reading:
To further my thoughts - I’ve conjured up articles that discuss principles I skim in the event you want more information.

[1] - Judgement, objectives and core predisposed axioms.

Emirbayer, M., & Mische, A. (1998). What is agency? American Journal of Sociology, 103(4), 962–1023.
https://www.jstor.org/stable/10.1086/231294?seq=1
