i really hated it they literally made Napoleon out to be this stumbling baffoon in an absurdly onedimensional way, his profound lack of charisma was not even juxtaposed by his military prowess as the scale of those was also minimized. the film literally only showed austerlitz and toulon lol and a bit of borodino.

I await Scotts death with great excitement. the crabs will come out for that swashbuckling Englishman rest assured.

He's wrong for any napoleon movie I'd enjoy but makes sense for Scott's subversive vision

The movie tries to undercut and humiliate napoleon at every turn so of course they got an oofy doofy pushing 50, type casted for playing damaged pathetic men and not the precocious maverick napoleon was

it seems like the writers in Hollywood who fall under "mediocre" just make a "satire" and get done with it. "Subversive" and "satire" are the only two buzz words that are understood by the millennial film critics of today anyways.

A story like his is far more nuanced for this horrible rendering. The depravity of the trailers are far too cringe for me to humor them at all.
