The bible and connections to ancient babylon
1747251864824

From thrones of lapis lazuli to flood myths and divine councils, ancient Sumerian records mirror stories found in the Bible. Could the “God of Israel” trace back to the Anunnaki deities like Enlil and Enki? from humans formed from clay to sacred mountains, the deeper connections between Mesopotamian mythology and biblical accounts.

mesopotamian mythology and the Bible:

-mesopotamian mythologyi: annunakis are deemed as gods on earth, they come bring knowledge and at the same time trick humanity into slavery by making them worship and obey them.
- Bible: Yahweh demands worship and is considered god by israelites altough they acknowledge there are other (henotheism, monolatry)

-mesopotamian mythologyi: the sumerian gods wrote their tales on tablets
-bible: the stories are taken either from those same tales or have an esoteric astrological meaning

-mesopotamian mythology: Enlil a prominent deity which is described as having a throne of lapiz lazuli
-bible: in some translations gods throne and surrounding is described with lapiz azuli in others sapphire (job 28:6, ezekiel 1:26)

-mesopotamian mythology: enlil is reffered as the highest of the gods
-bible: exalts himself above the "false idols" and calls himself the most high (psalm 83:18, exodus 20:3)

-mesopotamian mythology: enlil allowed the flood to happen to destroy humanity
-bible: god caused the flood to restart humanity

-mesopotamian mythology: enki another sumerian god warned ziusudra (or utnapishtm) about the coming flood enabling him to make a boat in time and survive
-bible: warns noah about a future flood and makes instructions to build a boat to bring his family and every sort of animal.
mesopotamian mythology: enki is credited to creating humans from clay
bible: god creates adam the first human from dirt.

-mesopotamian mythology: the sumerian gods have councils where they make decisions such as flooding the earth
-bible: many times also talks about a council where god judges man together with other gods (or judges), also where the son and father is often described at a judgement seat, (Psalm 82:1, 1 Kings 22:19-22). they are also often called "angels" or "demons" that other people worships as gods and that intermixed with humanity as explained in the sumerian tales (1 Kings 11:33, Deuteronomy 32:17, Genesis 6:2)

-mesopotamian mythology: the gods were mostly centered around mesopotamian civilizations as implies.
-bible: israel was bordered next to these civilizations and hence the "foreign" gods, altough the ones such as isis, amon ra el and several caananite gods predated in the levant region.

-mesopotamian mythology: sumerian gods especially enlil are linked to sacred mountains just like all the other gods mentioned in the bible, enlil specifically Ekur
-bible: god is also linked to sacred mountains like zion and sinai.

Enki and nihursag:

ninhurzag a mother goddess of the earth, she bore children with enki, one of the daughters ninkurra looked a lot like her mother, which bore a child with enki which made ninhurzag angry, she told her children to dig enkis seeds which eventually sprang. When enki saw them he ate all of them which infuriated ninhurzag and made her leave the garden. Enki became ill and ate his own body parts, the other gods convinced ninhurzag to come back and heal him. She took the plants in her body which gave birth to more gods in order to heal enki. she also held enki by wrapping her legs around him and absorbing the pain healing the ribs which is the reason why women have pain in childbarring.

tldr:
it's a story between a god and goddes whose garden, forbidden plants, rib healing, and divine childbirth eerily echo the Eden story. One goddess, Ninti, whose name means both “lady of the rib” and “lady who makes live,” heals Enki’s rib.

ninhursag appears around 2800-2900bc and the tale of enki and ninhursag around 2000 bc and the story of adam and eve around 1500 bc.

funnily theres another story of Inanna and Dumuzi which is also errily similiar, a woman a tree a man and a serpent in a garden, it was also written around 2000bc. for further reading: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-secular-life/201704/adam-and-eve

further going into the story of the garden of eden, the word serpent in hebrew is nachash which means serpent but also wise (also serpents in most religions like hinduism symbolizes wisdom not evil or deceit). Enki is known as the god of wisdom and the wise serpent which is also his symbol. The gnostics realised that adam and eve really did become wise and that God didnt like it,

Genesis 3:22: And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of US, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

the story of enki and enlil is also similiar to lucifer and yahweh. enlil being the brutal god that commands worship and enki being the god of wisdom which gives knowledge to man. also the sumerians also had a triadal god system of anu enki and enlil just like son father and holy spirit, vishnu krishna shiva and like most religions because in esoteric teachings it is taught that aether which makes the physical plane is made out of two opposite energies masculine and feminine uniting creating a third also in mathematics it's written as 3, 6 ,9.

Isthar marduk and esther and mordecai:
besides from the similar names they also share a lot in common, Ishtar was a divine queen associated with both eroticism and war. Marduk was a powerful god who was the leader of the Babylonian gods. Esther and Mordecai in Jewish history: In the story of Esther and Mordecai, we find similar names and attributes. Esther, like Ishtar, is a queen who can be both erotic and strong, and Mordecai, like Marduk, defeats an enemy and celebrates triumph with a banquet. (many sources also say isthar and marduk were cousins like esther and mordecai but some say they were simply prominent gods in the babylonian tales). the name Purim seems to derive from the babylonian word puru – a “lot” in both the senses of “portion” and “fortunetelling dice”. (purim is the festival that celebrates esther).
Yet among researchers, the actual origins of the holiday – and of Esther herself – are still hotly contested. Few scholars interpret Esther’s story as a record of historical events, and they note a number of oddities surrounding the book. The text, sometimes called the Megillah, contains no mention of God, or of religious activities such as prayer or sacrifice; its narrative is colorful and suggestive.

easter also comes from isthar which was a goddess of fertility hence why eggs and bunnies symbols of fertility are used synonymosly with easter.
