People from ex british colonies what are your opinions on the empire

What do people from ex colonies think about the empire and the effect it had on their country. Quite interested to see what indains especially have to say about it as I see mixed stuff on line with a alot of them hating on it and alot supporting it. I feel most citizens of ex colonies hate the empire and see it as evil(which it kinda was to a extent)

They modernized places like India and Affica to an extent with railroads building seaports and bringing formal english education but it was to fill the pockets of the british east India company not to "civilize" the natives. The british also plundered the lands, caused ethnic anf religious divisions of countries by displacing the natives and drawing borders around the world that people fight and dispute over to this day. They also caused dozen of famines killing millions of people and wiped out entire ecosystems in the process
